Last Thursday was delivery day for T M McGrath’s shortlisted work for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2017.
Steeped in tradition and following instructions to the letter Tom’s shortlisted painting was duly delivered into the safe keeping of the Royal Academy of Arts for the final selection process. It was a surreal moment as the path to the receiving area passed some rather large and ominous black bins but all was well with the rapid arrival of the local bin lorry which loaded and departed without apparently, including Tom’s masterpiece!
All in all a very satisfactory day, and a great deal of pride was felt in being shortlisted for such a prestigious exhibition with a work from the ‘Northern Art’ scene in Tom’s first year as a professional artist.
Now a little wait for the results, but even the journey to the shortlist has been a worthwhile and well deserved recognition of the value of Tom’s work
