“However I start, I always seem to end up painting gable ends, rooves and chimneys!”

Not quite true of all his work but T M McGrath does seem to have quite a bit of a gable end fixation.

Bearing this in mind I’ve compiled a mini-series of paintings exhibiting Tom’s enduring love for these staples of the industrial landscape, for your enjoyment. Often painted several years apart and with a variety of origins, it does seem that we always end up back in familiar territory: a view from a bridge, a raised perspective over rooftops, within the city, but looking out from it.
